Deaconess (Mother) Alice C. Anderson was born July 29, 1926 in Killian, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Emily Outen Stevens. On Thursday afternoon, July 21, 2016 with her family and church family surrounding her, God, in His infinite wisdom, called home his beloved daughter to reign with Him in glory.

Mother Anderson attended the formal schools of Richland County. For several years, she was employed with Dr. Joseph Workman. After 18 years of service, she retired from the University of South Carolina in June 1988.

Mother Anderson was united in holy matrimony to (the late) Deacon William Anderson, Sr. who preceded her in death. Together, they shared many years of happiness and devotion and raised one daughter.

Mother Anderson was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church until her health started to decline. During her tenure, she served on the Musical and Senior Choirs, on the Deaconess Ministry and the Missionary Ministry. She was also the Church Secretary, a member of the Friendship Baptist Church Trailblazers and the Mother of the Church.

She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who will be remembered by all those who loved and knew her.

Mother Anderson was predeceased by: her brother, Willie J. Stevens; her sister, Thelma S. Trapp; and three brothers-in-law: William B. Barr, Lawton Ferguson and Harry Riley.
