Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, a crown jewel in the funeral service industry, opened its doors in March 1988. Originally founded by Mr. Robert Bostick and Mr. Willie A. Tompkins, Bostick-Tompkins was founded on core principles of professionalism, compassion, integrity, and personalized funeral service. In 1988, the partnership of Mr. Bostick and Mr. Tompkins proved to be a great success and eventually grew from an upstart company into an industry leader and premier funeral home in the Columbia area and the Southeast.

The untimely death of Mr. Robert Bostick in 1992, allowed Mr. Willie A. Tompkins to take sole ownership of Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home. Since that time, Mr. Willie A. Tompkins has established and maintained a thriving business which provides uncompromised service to the community.

Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home is a full service funeral home offering Traditional Service Funerals, Graveside Services, Cremation Service, Memorial Serivces, Shipping Services, Burial Clothing and Cremation Urns.

In July 2001, the business was expanded from a 3,200 square foot facility, located at 2000 Laurel Street, to a 10,000 square foot facility located at 2930 Colonial Drive. The new facility provides complete and personalize service to families in all areas of burial and cremation. The Mozell Tompkins Memorial Chapel, named in honor of Mr. Tompkins' late mother, is a state- of-the-art chapel and one of the largest in the state of South Carolina, with an over 500 person seating capacity, a full pulpit, and a 30 seat choir stand. This facility stands ready to meet the needs of a new generation that wants to provide special services for their loved ones. The family viewing suites are multipurpose, and provide the comfort and privacy that families require when they are faced with a loss in their lives. The casket selection and display room contain a vast array of selections designed to meet the budgets and personalized needs of each family. Personalization is also offered to help a family commemorate the life of a loved one.

In addition to the new facility, in December 2001, Serenity Memorial Gardens was purchased, located at 1101 Buckner Road. This 3.5 acre cemetery has further met the needs of Bostick-Tompkins families by providing a personal cemetery for their loved ones.

For those desiring pre-need assistance, Bostick-Tompkins is licensed by South Carolina to provide pre-arrangements of funeral services.

Along with a well-trained staff that has been crossed trained in the funeral industry, Bostick-Tompkins is able to provide to its families the understanding, knowledge, quick response and compassion that is needed during their time of need.

Above all, Bostick-Tompkins provides a service that meets the needs of their families, making the burden they are bearing lighter, assisting with whatever they desire. Founded on the principle, "Service by Professionals," the staff at Bostick-Tompkins, under its founder, Willie A. Tompkins, brings to the funeral service industry compassion, professionalism and service that will not be compromised.

Willie, the little boy from McCormick, SC, who was told "he wouldn't be worth the salt in the bread," used that disparaging statement, not as a stumbling block, but rather a stepping stone to bring about positive things in his life, thus shaping the vision that is today.... Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, Inc. As a little boy, Willie was often teased for "dressing like a funeral director." Little Willie spent hours observing, learning, and studying the basic principles of funeral service at a very young age.

Willie Tompkins is especially gifted in building lasting relationships with families based on integrity and honesty. He is known for his rare attention to detail, superior embalming skills, and an efficient affordable funeral service.... guarantee.

Willie Tompkins is a graduate of Kentucky School of Mortuary Science.

Coupled with his unmatched dedication to compassionate, honest, personalized service is Mr. Tompkins' truly generous spirit and his unsurpassed commitment to his many philanthropic interests. Mr. Tompkins belief in supporting the greater community, specifically ministries and organizations targeting youth and seniors, is unmatched.

The Man I Am

The path I walk was made for me

with grains of faith for sand.

Because of those who paved the way

I am free to walk this land.

The man I am today warrants not great fame

The glory lies with the roots

I so proudly claim.
