Isaac Levi Lewis was born July 24, 1966 in Hopkins, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late Joe Blease Lewis, Sr. and Beatrice Archie Lewis.

Isaac, affectionately known as "Ike," was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 12, 2014. Isaac attended Richland County public schools and worked at various places throughout South Carolina. He worked as a landscaper, in sanitation and as a "shade tree" mechanic, as well as other endeavors.

Isaac was a loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was loved by all who were blessed to have known him. His cheerful spirit and affectionate laugh would brighten anyone's day. Ike loved spending time with family and friends. He was born an ordinary man; however, in death, he was extraordinary. Though he had no children of his own, he sacrificed himself when he saved the lives of many children on that tragic day he died. Although he will be missed, we take comfort in knowing that he is resting safely in the Master's arms. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lula and Patsy Lewis.

Those left to cherish precious memories of Isaac are his loving sisters: Belinda (Leon) Rivers, Shirley (Charles) Gause and Beverly (Wayne) Lewis, all of Columbia, South Carolina, and Katy Lewis of Missouri; his loving brothers, Joe Blease Lewis, Jr. and Jerry (April) Lewis of Columbia, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom share in the grief of his heroic departure.
