Lottie Mae Smith, 79, departed this earthly life on November 19, 2017 at Agape Hospice House in Columbia SC. She was surrounded by loving family and friends during her transition.

Lottie Mae was born October 19, 1938 in Lancaster, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of Gongsolo McDowell and Estelle McCoy. In her adult life, she enjoyed spending time with her children, family and friends. Her home was open to many, as you were always welcome to home cooked meals and fellowship at Lottie Mae’s. As the matriarch of the family, her love, wisdom, and tell it like it is spirit will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents Gongsolo McDowell and Estelle McCoy; brother, William McCoy; and son Calvin Smith.

Lottie Mae Smith is survived by her sons Tony (Annette) Smith, James Edward Smith, Clarence Davis Jr, Alvin Davis; daughters, Jacqueline Elaine Gaston and Michelle Sligh; sisters, Eula Mae (Irvin) Bethel, Diane Sligh (Albert), Nettie McDowell and Jean McDowell; sister-in-law, Dorothy Lane and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.
