I wanted to reach out to you during this sad time to offer my condolences. While nothing will completely take away your grief, by meditating on God's promises found in the Bible you can find real hope and the strength to keep going. I have found the scripture at Isaiah 25:8 to be especially comforting. Here it promises that God "will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces."

We send our condolences to Janice Nelson's family. We knew her too, at McKissick Museum, and were fortunate to get to see her one last time in October when we ran into her. She was her usual cheerful self, and talked about our families and about others that we had worked with in the past. Janice was a good and kind person and we will miss her.

Janice always greeted us with a smile and a kind word. We first came to know Janice in the 1980s at McKissick. We kept up with her seeing her from time to time when we visited Columbia. She was a very special person--warm, caring and genuine. She will be missed, but has left a warm place in all our hearts. Our condolences to her family.

I extend my deepest sympathy to your family at this time. Please be comforted by knowing that our loving Creator, Jehovah God, is aware of your pain and “close to the brokenhearted” and “He saves those who are crushed in spirit “ (Psalm 34:18).

My deepest condolences to the family during this time of need. May you cherish the memories of your mother, your sister and friend, and may God be a true source of comfort. Psalm 94:19 "When anxieties overwhelmed me, You comforted and soothed me."

Worked with Janice at the University of South Carolina for 5 years, she was a beautiful spirit to come in contact from day one. Always cheerful and willing to go the distance when requested. She will be missed, but now in a better place that we all must go. To the family, May God guide you through your lost.

Janice, as we knew her at McKissick Museum, was a bright light here on USC's campus, always smiling and spreading good cheer. She never complained. She always had kind words to share. I was especially grateful for the concern and support she showed me during a difficult illness. She meant so much to all of us. She was a treasured part of our museum family. I am very sorry for your loss. Sending love and prayers to you all at this difficult time.
