Zaidee R. Morris

Zaidee Reasoner Morris was born on May 10, 1928, in Irmo, SC, the beloved daughter of the late Alfred Sr. and Zaidee (nee’ Elston) Reasoner, at the Harbison Institute – what is now Midlands Technical College. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Zaidee graduated from Finley High School (Chester, SC), continuing her education at Johnson C. Smith University where she received her BS in mathematics, minoring in Music. It was during this time that she found her passion for teaching. Zaidee immediately started her career as a math teacher teaching at Richlex and Irmo Middle Schools, making stops in Chester and Rock Hill, South Carolina. Through this journey, she ran into the love of her life, Walter Morris, while he was stationed at Fort Jackson Army Base. The two wed on March 7, 1956, in Irmo, SC, and went on to have two children and enjoyed sixty-five (65) wonderful years together until Walter's passing in 2022.

Zaidee was a long time and faithful member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, where she was the pianist and organist for many years. She would perform recitals and practices there as well.

Mrs. Morris was a Charter Member of the Rock Hill Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated that was established in 1958.

In her spare time, Zaidee enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, tending to her greenhouse and playing her piano, the latter being her heart. Mrs. Morris has left a legacy of love to all those whose lives she so lovingly touched.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Zaidee was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Percival Reasoner and Alfred Reasoner, Jr.

Mrs. Morris is lovingly survived by her daughter, Beverly Morris; son, Walter Morris, Jr.; grandson, Brian (Nadine) Garrett; great grandchildren, Saree and Victor Garrett; and her nephew, John (Lorrie) Reasoner, Jr.; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
