Yvonne McKinley

Yvonne McKinley,  daughter of the late Lester and Annie Mae McKinley, was born on March 14, 1949, in Columbia, SC. She departed this life on Monday, August 28, 2023. 

Mickey, as she was affectionally known, was raised  and educated in Columbia, South Carolina, where  she attended Booker T. Washington High School.  Yvonne was employed with the Dorn VA Medical Center where she worked as a Health Technician and  retired after 30 plus years of service.

She joined Saint James Baptist Church  of Horrell Hill,  South Carolina at  an early age. 

Yvonne enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and coworkers. Her pride and joy were her daughters, grands, great grands, and great-great grandchild.  She took pride in making personalized birthday cards for every grand. These cards included a dollar bill for each year of age, plus one dollar for good luck. She enjoyed a good card game and playing bingo.  She also enjoyed coloring, puzzles books, and watching some of her favorite soap operas and gameshows.  She will be missed by all those who loved and knew her.

In addition to her parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Charles McKinley; her daughter, Doris Adams; and grandson, Zachary Adams.

Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Yvonne are her loving daughters, Tommye (Wilbur) Brown, and Diane (James) Adams both of Columbia, SC; brothers Luther (Darlene) McKinley, 1st Jr,  William (Monica) McKinley, Lester (Germye) McKinley, all of Columbia, SC; sister-in-law, Laura McKinley of Hopkins, SC; special niece, Wanda Adams; special friend, Hercules Corbin; a host of grands, great-grands, and great-great grandchildren. nephews, nieces, cousins, and other loving relatives  and special friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
