Yoton Temeke Kershaw was born October 6, 1974, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved son of Susan Taor and Willie A. Kershaw. His handsome journey here on earth ended on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Yoton attended the public schools of Richland County where he graduated from Eau Clair High School in 1995. During his time at Eau Claire he was a member of the Shamrock Marching Band where he was a part of the Trumpet Section. Yoton continued his education at Centura College where he received an Associate Degree in Technology in 2014.
Yoton had a passion for learning, he used his training in technology to work with and applied his specialized technical knowledge to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair complex machinery, equipment, or systems in various sectors including manufacturing and IT. He was employe with Shakespear for twelve years where he inspected equipment/machinery; and did troubleshooting to diagnose the cause of, and or issues or malfunctions.
At an early of nine years old, Yoton gave his life to Christ and began his spiritual journey at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Harfford, Connecticut.
A devoted family member, Yoton loved his children and his sister dearly. He was also known as a jokester and enjoyed having petty fun with his words that kept them laughing till their stomachs ached. He will be missed by all those whose lives he so lovingly touched.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arletha Quattlebaum, Johnnie Baker, Dorothy Baxter, Andrew Hatte, and Johnnie Baker; aunts, Lizzie Ashford, Shirley Smith, Narval Myers, Essie Baker, Ella Mae Caldwell, and Katherine Atkins; uncles, Izell, Bill, Mack, and Geroge Kershaw, Johnnie and James Baker.
He leaves to cherish is precious memories his children, Yoton T. (aka/Peanut), Kendall D., Kennedy A., and Kaden E. Kershaw, all of Columbia, SC; granddaughter, Rhea D. Kershaw Martin- El; his mother, Susan (Anthony) Taylor; sister, Hawanya Kershaw; both of Columbia, SC; brothers, Gabriel Z. Kershaw of Columbia, SC, and Christopher D. Cameron of Hartford, CT; aunts, Joan Baker, Beatrice Ford, both of Manchester, CT; Almetta Perry of Inglewood, CA, and Rosie Baker of Concord, NC; uncles, Vincent Baker of East Hartford, CT, Wayne Baker of Hartford, CT, Marvin Baker of Windsor, CT, and Charles Ford of Manchester, CT; a host of nephew, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will immensely miss him.
