Willie Thomas Watts, Jr.

Willie T. Watts Jr. was born May 16, 1952, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Willie T. Watts Sr. and Sallie Bell Watts.  He departed this earthly life on Monday, March 18, 2024, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Willie was educated in the public schools of Richland County and retired from SCDDSN  (Midland Center) after twenty-eight (28) years of service.  After retiring, he continued to work and was employed with UPS and The Township Auditorium.

Willie was a loving  husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving spirit will continue to be with us. 

In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie Brown, and Joe Ellison; sisters, Betty Ellison, Rosa Burrell, Ruby Mills, Barbara Smith, Josephine Gilyard, and Nannie Smith.

Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories of Willie are his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Vernetta Robinson Watts of the home; loving daughters, Jernetta (Dantrell) Watts-Ashford, and Kennetta (Charles Miller) Watts, both of Columbia, SC; three precious grandchildren, Raven Wright, Kennedi Wright, and Cayden Oree; loving and caring sisters, Debra (John) Livingston, Deidra Goins, Katherine (James) Robinson, all of Columbia, SC; and Sallie Ann Hopkins of Penn’s, PA; caring brother, Rudolph (Jaton) Watts of Columbia, SC; brothers-in-laws, Willie (Regina) Robinson of Cayce, SC; Samuel Robinson Jr., of Philadelphia, PA; and sisters-in-law, Doris (Walter) Jamison of Norway, SC, and Joyce Summers of Columbia, SC; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by his departure.
