Willie Lee Tyler

Willie Lee Tyler was the eldest son to the late Rena (Tyler) Greene and Leroy Cannon Jr.  He was born in Salley, SC and later relocated to Columbia, SC.

He was educated in public schools of Richland County and received his high school diploma from Booker T. Washington High School in 1967.  He held several jobs during his years and was known to be a model employee. His longest tenure was at Carolina Eastman from 1977 – 2000 where he later retired. During his employment at Carolina Eastman he was a volunteer fireman.

Mr. Tyler was very respected in his community and loved by many. Everyone who knew him, knew he was a Pittsburgh Steelers man until the day he died.

Rosemary Cannon Evertt, Leroy Cannon, Edvert Cannon, Jackie Greene and his oldest grandchild Antonius Tyler preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Lucilla Scott Tyler, Eldest daughter Cindy Tyler, Only son Michael Tyler (Ebony), and Youngest daughter Katrina Tillman. His siblings Mary K. Moses, Cosell Tyler (Gloria), Minnie Pearl Brown, Marsha Sue Hartwell (Willie), Virginia Lakin (John), Terry Cannon and Sandy Cannon. His grandchildren: Janicqua Tyler (Carlos), Brittney Harrison, Maquia Harrison, Xavier Harrison and Eddie Harrison. His granddaughters from his son: Alexis Dickerson, Essence Tyler, Madison Tyler and MI ‘Kayla Tyler.  Also, left to cherish his memories are his 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
