William Robinson

William Robinson Obituary

William Adolf Robinson was born in Lancaster, South Carolina, on April 2, 1941, the beloved son of the late Reverend James English Robinson and Leila Cousar Robinson. He peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Lexington Medical Center Hospital in West Columbia, South Carolina.

Upon graduating from Barr Street High School, William entered the United States Army. While stationed in Cleveland, Ohio, he met his future wife, the former Alice Jean Walker.  The two were united in Holy Matrimony on May 25, 1963, and they remained married for 58 years until her death on May 26, 2021. Their union of love was blessed with the births of three children, Timothy, Kimbra, and Rodney.

He was a retired Army Veteran and Long-Distance Truck Driver. In his spare time, he loved fishing and watching his two favorite football teams, the Cleveland Browns, and the Carolina Panthers.

Williams was a longtime and  active member of Friendship Baptist Church in Hopkins, SC, where he was proud to the “Father of Friendship.” In addition to being a devoted church member, he served as an usher, trustee, and brotherhood board member.

In addition to his parents and his loving wife Alice, William was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Eric Robinson; brothers David Robinson, Sammy Robinson, Dan Lee Robinson, Rudolph Robinson, Charlie Robinson, James Robinson, and Theophus Robinson; and sisters, Emma Robinson, and Leila Robinson.

He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Rodney Robinson (Sandra) of Columbia SC; a daughter, Kimbra Robinson of Shreveport, Louisiana; two brothers, Walter (Liz) Robinson  of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Robert A. (Shirley) Robinson of Lancaster, SC; three grandchildren, Brittni Robinson of Columbia SC, Nikolaus (Katie)  Heitmuller of Dallas Texas, and Kayla Hollingsworth of Shreveport, Louisiana; a great-grandson, Hank Heitmuller ;and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and special family friends who cared for him and will dearly miss him.
