William Gibson Obituary

William Gibson was born August 31, 1970 in Columbia, SC.  He was the beloved son of Helen and John Gibson Jr.  On Saturday, February 8, 2020, William departed this earthly life for eternal rest with God at Providence Hospital Northeast, Columbia, SC.  “Senior” as he was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Richland County.  He was a “Master Chef”, a job he admired and excelled gracefully in.  If you were looking for a good meal cooked with love, Senior was your chef.

William lived a full and happy life.  He was an amazing father, grandfather, father-in-law, son, brother, uncle and friend.  He had a heart of gold.  He believed in family first.  Even if you were a friend or stranger, He considered you family.  William was a God-fearing man.  His loyalty and compassion were beyond what words could describe.  He was very humble and sweet. He was a true Dallas Cowboy fan!

William was preceded in death by his mother Helen Taylor Gibson and brother John Fitzgerald Gibson.

William leaves to cherish precious memories: father, John (Rosemary) Gibson Jr. of Charlotte, NC; his loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, William (Shavon) Gibson of Columbia, SC; daughter Michelle (Anthony) Amaker of Waynesboro,  VA; grandchildren,  Mason Gibson of Columbia, SC, Jeffrey Williams, Cornelius Cheesboro, Nehemiah Amaker, Aiiyana Amaker and Ariiyanna Amaker all of Waynesboro, VA; brothers Ronnie Gibson and Gregory Gibson, both of Columbia, SC; aunts Sandra Gaddist, Shirley Gibson, Suzette Gaddist and Mary (Woody) McElveen all of Columbia, SC, Barbara Johnson of Charlotte, NC and Carolyn (Tony) Washington of Philadelphia, PA; uncles James (Alberta) Taylor and Willie (Lillie) Taylor both of Columbia, SC, Lewis (Doris) Taylor and Sylvester Taylor, both of Hopkins, SC;  best friend Dwight McFadden of Columbia, SC; Lesha(Kasey) Wilson who was like his daughter of Manhattan, Kansas; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
