Mr. Wilbert Hoefer Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as "Tudy Bug" was born September 21, 1948, in Columbia, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his father the late Wilbert Hoefer, Sr. and his mother the late Geneva Hoefer.
Wilbert accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Ridgewood Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina where he was an active member on the Jubilee Choir.
Wilbert was educated in the public schools of Columbia, South Carolina and attended Eau-Claire High School. He pursued a career in brick masonry and later found gratification in working at Carolina Children's Home until he retired and became proudly employed with Ridgewood Missionary Baptist church as an Environmental Supervisor.
Wilbert's greatest joys, outside of his family, were singing on the Jubilee Choir, cooking, and eating his favorite foods. He especially loved cooking cobblers and fried chicken with rice and gravy. He had a way of providing you with a special nickname which is how he sometimes expressed his admiration for you.
Wilbert leaves to cherish his memories to his lovely wife for over 25 years, Mrs. Willie Mae Hoefer; two daughters: Altheria (Charles) Graham of Columbia, SC and Karen Graham of Atlanta, GA; two sisters: Monica (Rossi) Hoefer of Columbia, SC, and Barbara Ann Reed of Philadelphia; four brothers of Columbia, SC: Gary Hoefer, Harold (Lynette) Reed, Larry Reed, Roger Reed; and a brother Kenneth Hoefer of Maryland; two Aunts: Annette Watkins of Columbia, SC and Marian Davis of Durham, NC.
