Westley Smith, Jr was born on August 26, 1952, in Columbia, South Carolina to Mattie Bookhart and the late Westley Smith, Sr. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Westley was educated in the public school system of Richland County, graduating from Eau Claire High School with the class of 1972. Throughout his life he held employment with Louis Rich Company, South Carolina Department of Transportation, Fairfield County Recreation Department, American Tool and Die, Amazon Fulfillment Center and Consolidated Mail Services. His final place of employment was with O'Reilly Auto Parts where he enjoyed working as a delivery driver for Columbia and surrounding areas.
Westley was baptized at a young age at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, Richtex. He enjoyed fishing, grilling, hanging out with his cousins and all things football. Westley was a diehard Clemson and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Westley was preceded in death by his wife Florine Smith, father Westley Smith, Sr, stepfather Matthew Bookhart and sisters Sara Smith and Rosetta Smith.
Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Mattie Bookhart of Columbia, South Carolina; five daughters, Quantra Smith, Shavonda Smith and Nakisha Smith of Columbia, South Carolina, Kristy (Robert) Johnson of Blair, South Carolina and Ebony Smith of Inman, South Carolina; 8 grandchildren, Kya Smith, Tre' Pearson, Ale'cia Smith-Roberts and Tyson Smith-Fitzpatrick Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina, Kaleigh Johnson and Ryan Johnson of Blair, South Carolina and Quintin Hook and Ethan Hook of Cayce, South Carolina; three great grandchildren, Ramon Tobias Austin Weeks Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina, Madison Hook and Brooklyn Hook of Cayce, South Carolina; a devoted companion, JoAnn Branham of Columbia, South Carolina; siblings, Gloria Trapp (Benjamin Brown), Elizabeth (Larry) Davis, Vivian Martin, Franklin (Renee) Rivers, Jamie (Dedra) Brown, and Norma Figgs of Columbia, South Carolina; a loving great-aunt, Sallie Evans of Columbia, South Carolina; two special cousins, Lisa Newman of Silver Springs, Maryland and Calvin Jackson of Columbia, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
