Warren M. Bolden, Sr. Obituary

Warren Maurice Bolden, Sr. was born on August 17, 1950, in Columbia, South Carolina. The beloved son of the late Charles “Coach” Frank Bolden, Sr. and Ethel Evangeline Martin Bolden. After an extended illness, he peacefully passed to eternal life with his wife by his side on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at PRISMA Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

Warren was a product of the Edgewood Community and attended Carver Elementary School, W. A. Perry Middle School, and graduated from C. A. Johnson High School, Class of 1968. Warren was a member of the Drew Park Sharks. His outstanding swimming skills afforded him a scholarship to attend Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1989, he received his Associate of Arts degree in Human Services from Midlands Technical College in Columbia, South Carolina.

Warren was employed as an asbestos and moving crew supervisor at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. He was an Independent Contractor through his company HOTEP Sports with the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department. One of his most rewarding experiences was becoming the Swimming Pool Manager at Benedict College, where he taught swimming classes and maintained water quality for the swimming pool. Warren was a certified official for baseball, softball, and volleyball at the high school and collegiate levels, along with the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department. An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Warren loved sports, enjoyed making collages, listening to music to the max, fishing, and wearing the latest sneakers and colognes. Warren’s grandchildren were his heart that brought joy and peace to his soul; always surprised when they would come to visit, because he never knew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Charles “Coach” Frank Bolden, Sr. and the late Ethel Evangeline Martin Bolden.

Warren leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted wife and caregiver of over twenty-eight years, Wendy Ellen Goodwin Bolden; his five children, Bailey Bolden, Quentin (Tee’an) Goodwin, Sherisse (Michael) Jackson, Valencia Goodwin, and Veronica Goodwin; five grandsons, Trentin Goodwin, Soul Hughes, Pharoh Goodwin, Jaden and Jacob Jackson; two granddaughters, Taylor and Nia Goodwin; caring brother, Charles (Alexis) Bolden, Jr.; brother-in-law, Christopher (Valeria) Shiver; sisters-in-law, Karen Goodwin, Viola (Riley) Everette, Rachel (Jonas) Turner, LaRosa (Joseph) Mitchell, and Felicia (Stacey) Jacobs; nephews, Anthony Ché (Penelope) Bolden, Ricardo Anderson, Brandon (Brandy) Shiver, Dearold (Ursula) Shiver, Jr., Emanuel Shiver, Christian Shiver, Joshua, Jacques, and Isaiah Turner, Keegan and Aidan Jacobs; nieces, Dr. Kelly Michelle Bolden, Jessica Pondexter, Patrice and Tori Jacobs; seven grand-nephews;  five grand-nieces; and a great grand-niece; along with a host of other loving family members and friends.
