Vivian C. Edmonds also known as “Viv” was born on May 28, 1948, to Catherine Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina.
After Vivian graduated from Columbia High School in 1966, she took courses at Rutledge College in Charlotte, North Carolina. Vivian retired from Bellsouth Telecommunications (AT&T) in Charlotte, North Carolina after 35 years of service.
Vivian was bold, confident, often spoke her mind, and believed in enjoying life. She made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Vivian was an avid sports fan and was well known for attending her children’s football games and track meets with her cowbell in hand. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan for life. Vivian had a style like no other and was always dressed to impress. She was one of the best cooks in the Carolinas and her love of cooking always led her to cook for family, friends, and neighbors. Vivian’s meals were delicious and often included her signature turkey wings, chicken salad, mac and cheese, banana pudding, and so many other soul food favorites. She found joy in hearing family and friends say how much they enjoyed her meals. Vivian was one of a kind and no other person was exactly like her. She loved her daughter, sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She had a circle of friends that she dearly loved and whom she considered family. She will forever be loved and missed.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents and only sister, Grace F. Hudgens.
Vivian is survived by her children, Rodney Edmonds of North Carolina, Derrick Edmonds of Florida, Tomiko Edmonds of New Jersey, and James (Shaunda) Edmonds of Georgia; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren who will remember the good times with her, and she will forever hold a place in their hearts.
