Vivian Jewel Rogers was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Victor and Flossie Barbin on September, 25, 1932. She was the first of six children. She departed quietly on Wednesday, March 20,2019.
After moving to Columbia, South Carolina she accepted Christ and was baptized at Reid Chapel AME. She was received a certificate of Appreciation at Reid Chapel AME on March 25, 2012. Vivian was a member of the Jubilee choir for many years and have participated in many community service projects around her community and the City of Columbia. She has been in the Greenview community since May 28, 1968.
Vivian Rogers is a true woman of God. It is not the earthly possessions she obtained, nor the gifts she may have given to others, rather, it is her love for GOD and all people. Vivian demonstrated the Love of God through service and unselfish sacrifice. Often times, not feeling well, Vivian pressed her way always giving a smile to everyone whom she came in contact with.
She was married to Hezekiah Rogers Jr. The two had six kids Curtis Romell Rogers (Lavern), Patricia Rogers(D), Cynthia Elaine Rogers, Ronald Ray Rogers, LyGail Lynn Rogers, and Donald Ken Rogers (D) and honorary son Ron Blackwell. She has ten grandchildren: Jevis Rogers, (D) Porscha' Rogers (Maceo Gatewood), Julsonta Rogers-Blackwell, Keyonca Rogers (Kendrick Thomas), Jason Rogers, Tosha Driver (Thomas Smith Jr.), Ce'kiah Rogers, Ceterra Rogers, Ciara Rogers, Jonnay Rogers, Jalen Rogers, and Jamal Rogers. Also, 14 Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
