Vista Thompson Fields Obituary

Vista Thompson Fields was born August 31, 1935, in Fairmont, North Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Donnie Thompson and Nannie Skipper Campbell. She departed this life on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at her residence in Hampton, Georgia.

Vista was educated at Rosenwald High School in Fairmont, North Carolina, and took several business courses in Brooklyn, New York. She retired as an Order Taker at Bellsouth and Verizon Communication.

As a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, she served on the Senior Missionary Society Board, the Church Aide Women’s Ministry, the Children’s Choir and Youth in Praise Choir.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Fields, Jr.; two sons, Carl Fields and Anthony Thompson; two sisters, Janet Eury and Virginia T. Hardy; three brothers, Cleveland, LeRoy, and Alfred Thompson; four aunts, Eulaih Watson, Lorene Campbell, Margaree Jones and Emma G. Smith; two uncles, Alexander Campbell and Wooster Campbell; and sister-in-law, Earline Bethea.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Carolyn Davenport (Stefan) of Georgia; two sons, Steven Fields Sr. (Tara) of South Carolina, and Wyanto Harlee (Lue) of North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Tirrell Davenport and Jennifer Garrett (Jeremiah) both of Georgia, Steven Fields Jr. of North Carolina, Jamel Fields of Texas, Reginald Brown, Matthew Brown, Stanley Sims and Darius Fields, all of South Carolina, and Martinos Brown of Texas; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Connie Canery of Fairmont, North Carolina; two brothers, Gregory Thompson (Diane) of Harvey, Louisiana, and Cleveland Bethea of Salem, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Bessie Thompson of Fairmont, North Carolina, and Ida Thompson of Brooklyn, New York; four aunts, Vashti Inman, Ruby Campbell and, Gloria Campbell, all of Fairmont, North Carolina, and Dorothy Campbell of Mount Morris, Michigan, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
