Ms. Virginia McDaniel was born November 25, 1943, in Bowman, South Carolina, Her parents were the late John Keitt and Emma Summers Keitt Johnson. She departed on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Pruitt Health- Ridgeway, in Ridgeway, South Carolina.
Virginia graduated from Bethune Memorial High School in Bowman, SC. She was united in holy matrimony in March 1960 to the late Leroy McDaniel, whom she met while in high school. Their union of love was blessed with 50 years of love and devotion to each other and the births of their four children, LeeVern, Bernard, Carolyn, and Stacy.
Ms. McDaniel was a talented seamstress who worked for several alteration companies over the years including Oxford of Columbia, military alteration shop on Fort Jackson Army Base and Dillard's Department Store. In addition to her work as a seamstress, she found joy in ceramic arts and enjoyed creating and hand painting beautiful ceramic pieces that she loved to display throughout her home.
She was known for her timeless sense of style and always dressed sharp from head to toe, with a beautiful hat to match every outfit. Her love for fashion was more than what she wore; it was how she carried herself, with elegance, pride, and grace.
She was a loyal and faithful member of Jehovah Baptist Church of Columbia, SC for many years, where she served on the Jubilee Choir and the Missionary Ministry.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was succeeded in death by her brother, Thomas Keitt, who joined her in heaven on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories her children, LeeVern, Bernard, Carolyn and Stacy McDaniel, all of Columbia, SC; three sisters, Annie B. Simmons of Washington, DC, Victoria Rolley of Bronx, NY, and Shirley Ann Harewood of Brooklyn, NY; five brothers, Will Keitt of Brooklyn, NY, Nathaniel Keitt of Clinton, Maryland, Herbert Keitt of Columbia, SC, and Stanley Keitt of Waldorf, Maryland; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives, and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
