Mr. Vernon McCants was born November 16, 1949 in Blythewood, South Carolina. He was the oldest child of the late Claude McCants and Ida Belle Washington Green. On Monday, July 30, 2018 Vernon answered God’s calling.
Vernon attended Bethel Hanberry High School where he played football. He was a former employee at Kimbrell’s Furniture, Hobart, and Javis Logging Company/ Crane Creek Logging Company. After learning from his father in law, he also gave back to the community by doing landscaping.
Vernon was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie McCants, and Bernard McCants, and his sisters, Betty Glenn, and Denise McCants.
He leaves behind six loving children: April Jamison, Evon (Reverend Joseph) Goodwin, Vernon McCants Jr., Quincy McCants, Vernell McCants, and Therell Miller; 28 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ruth Diamond and Stacy Brown; one brother, Claude McCants; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that will truly miss him.
