Travis Verseal Blocker was born on May 10, 1960, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved son of Mae Frances Center Blocker and the late Johnnie Alexander Blocker. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
“Tater Red” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, Travis was a graduate of Columbia High School where he played Basketball and was always known for his baseball talent with the Pine Grove Community Baseball Team and Blacksoxs Baseball Team in Maybington, SC, and was known as the best first baseman and he always dressed as well as he played.
In June of 1990, he took Tara Maxine Jones as his wife and together they raised three loving sons, Tremayne Verseal, Terrell Marquis and Tyrese VaShaun Blocker.
At an early age, Travis joined and was baptized at Zion Chapel Baptist Church No. 1.
Travis was employed with Allied Chemicals, Honeywell and Shaw.
He was a lover and avid fan of the basketball player, Michael Jordan. His favorite tv shows and channels to watch were ESPN, Michael Jordan Netflix series: The Last Dance, The Andy Griffith Show, Walker Texas Ranger, the A-Team and he was an avid lover of old western shows such as Bonanza, Gunsmoke and The Rifleman. Travis also loved the Oakland Raiders, New York Yankees and the UNC Tarheels.
Travis was preceded in death by his wife, Tara M. Blocker; brother, Darius K. Smith; his father, Johnnie Alexander Blocker.
Surviving relatives are his three children, Rev. Tremayne V. Blocker, Terrell M. Blocker and Tyrese V. Blocker; his mother, Mae Frances Center Blocker, brother, Gerald O. (D’Andrea) Blocker of Duluth, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will miss him deeply.
