Warren Harden Rogers, Jr., known as Tim Rogers, was born March 22, 1949, in Columbia, SC, the son of the late Warren Harden Rogers and Gaynell Bush Rogers Glenn. He passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, in Columbia, South Carolina
Tim, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a 1967 graduate of C. A. Johnson High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served from 1969 to 1971 in the 101st Airborne Division. During his tenure, Tim rose from the rank of Private to the rank of Sergeant, and earned the Vietnam Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the military Tim worked as a machinist at both Rockwell International for 25 years and Spirex for 5 years until he retired.
Tim accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age, and he attended both Greenview Baptist and Green Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
In May 1969, Tim was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, the former Patricia Smith. They were married one month short of 55 years. They were blessed with two sons, Warren (Tommy), and Rodney. Tim and Pat loved playing bid whist, bowling, going to Casinos, and being with their family.
Tim was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching golf, he was a Dallas Cowboys fan, and he loved visiting family and friends. One of Tim’s favorite holidays was New Years’s, this was his holiday to cook and share his favorite meal with his family. After retirement, Tim enjoyed being there for his grandchildren and being the best Papa.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Willie Glenn Sr., and his brother, Jack Rogers.
Tim is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Rogers of the home; his sons, Warren H. (Uvette) Rogers, III and Rodney Rogers, both of Columbia, SC; seven grandchildren, Chela Luther of Charlotte, NC; Meera Rogers, Warren J. Rogers, Nyla Rogers, Aiden Doctor, all of Columbia, SC; Aliyah Burris of Lexington, SC, and Kayla Racine Rogers of Berkely, CA; one great grandson, Caidyn Steele of Charlotte, NC; five brothers, Leroy Rogers, Jimmy Rogers, Bobby (Lois) Rogers, and Michael Glenn, all of Columbia, SC, and Willie (Carmen) Glenn, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; aunt, Juanita Boykin of Columbia, SC; uncle, Arthar Bush of Columbia, SC. He loved all his friends, but his special friends were Ben Barber, Cliff Woods, and Jerry Thompson. Tim is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
