Tillmon W. Posey, Jr. Obituary

Tillmon Webster Posey, Jr., was born October 12, 1943, in Columbia, S.C., the beloved eldest son of the late Tillmon Webster Posey Sr. and Margaret Cannon Posey. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Columbia, SC.

Affectionately called “Teady,” by family and friends, Tillmon was educated in the public schools of Richland County and was a graduated of C. A. Johnson High School. Tillmon had a successful career as an artist and in construction as a builder.

Everyone knew that Tillmon’s greatest joy was “The Posey Family” Celebrations, a frequent celebration of unity that surrounded his mother, “Muh;” an activity that continued throughout his life.

He was an avid dog lover and was known for his knowledge and ability to care for any dog. His love for dogs extended throughout his community. Teady was a talented artist who could draw portraits from memory, this was one of his many talents.

Tillmon was baptized at an early age and lived his life guided by faith, love, and compassion for others. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, though he is no longer physically with us, he has left a legacy of love to all those who loved and knew him.

In addition to his parents, Tillmon was also preceded in death by his brother, Alvin (Marie) Posey; sisters, Gwendolyn (Billy) Hampton, LaMoris (Floyd) Weathersbee, Tillie (Gordon) Mitchell, Patricia (Henry) Satterwhite, and Margaret (Nathaniel) Chisholm

Tillmon's legacy lives on in the lives of his loving and caring wife of 36 years, Angela K. Posey; daughter, Keta F. Brailey; sons, Clifton Nicholson, and Garcia Hall; grandchildren, London Brailey, Jermaine Strother, Jordon Strother, and Fernandus Jones II;  great-grandsons, Kylen Grey Strother and London Brailey Jr., sisters, Gloria Posey and Diane Artemus;  brothers-in-law, Nesbit W. Kennedy Jr, and Ronald D. Kennedy; sisters-in-law, Millicent R. Aiken, Fran E. Brown, and Jacqueline (Roston) Knox; along with a host of nieces and nephews, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dear miss him.
