Theodore (Ted) Brown was born August 1, 1952 in Columbia, South Carolina. He departed this life on March 3, 2020 at the Medilodge of Portage Nursing Home in Portage, Michigan.
Theodore (Ted) was raised in a loving Christian home with his mother and father and four brothers in Columbia, South Carolina. At an early age, he was baptized at Reid Chapel A.M.E Church. He was a member of the gospel choir and participated in many other church activities and auxiliaries. Ted was a faithful member until he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. Ted continued his spiritual journey as a frequent visitor at Galilee Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, Michigan until he began to have health challenges.
Ted was a Drum Major at CA Johnson High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1971. His career began in 1972 when he graduated from Denmark Technical College, School of Barbering. He was a professional hair stylist for 48 years.
Ted went on to graduate from Columbia Barber and Hair Styling School. After several years with a successful career in Columbia, Ted moved to Atlanta, Georgia to continue his profession. After being in Atlanta for many years, he relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan where he developed a large clientele for barbering and hair styling. Ted continued working until his heath failed.
Ted was the co-founder of a Modeling Group named the “Emphatic Eloquence” in 1975. This group performed all over South Carolina. From this modeling experience, Ted won a national modeling contest in New York City.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Brown, Jr., his mother, Lillie Pearl Cook Brown, brothers, Jerry Brown, Joseph Henry Brown and Rudolph Brown.
Ted leaves to cherish a brother James (Joyce) Brown of Blythewood, SC; sister in law, Victoria Brown of Charlotte, NC and an aunt, Frances Anderson of Columbia, SC and a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many other relatives and friends.
