Tamika Michele Williams was born August 25, 1979, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, the youngest of four children born to the late Fred Prater Sr. and Renee Ellis Prater. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Columbia, South Carolina.
The family migrated from Pennsylvania to South Carolina, and Tamika graduated from Walterboro/ Colleton County High School in the Class of 1997. Tamika married Reggie Williams Sr. in 2002 and from this former union, two children were born, Re’Dayshah and Re’Mani Williams.
In 2009, Tamika decided to return to school and earned an associate degree in medical assisting. She worked for the current Prisma Health, formerly known as Palmetto Health, Homecare and Hospice in Columbia, SC for many years as an Information Specialist. She then continued in the medical assistance and billing field for many years until her passing. She was a part of the Brett’s Rainbow with the current Prisma Health, formerly known as Palmetto Health, volunteer program.
Tamika loved to cook. She would sample many recipes trying out different dishes. She took great joy in dabbling in different crafts such as crocheting, painting, and gardening. Family and friends could always count on her to make a good joke and have a great time.
Tamika is lovingly survived by her two daughters, Re’Dayshah Williams and Re’Mani Williams, both of Columbia, SC; her siblings, Fred Prater Jr., Bluffton, SC, Lynn Prater and Rashad Prater, both of Columbia, SC; six nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, Cornell Ellis, Pittsburgh, PA, Tyrone (Verna) Ellis, Hilton Head, SC, Norman Ellis, Walterboro, SC, Wylie (Sharon) Ellis, Savannah, GA, Marjorie David, Pittsburg, PA, Venetta Ellis, Pittsburgh, PA “her favorite aunt” as Tamika would always call her, Patsy Prater, Pittsburgh, PA, Richard (Troy) Prater, Pittsburgh, PA, Lucille Prater, Pittsburgh, PA, George (Jackie) Prater, Bluffton, SC, and Eric Prater, Raleigh, NC; stepmother, Tracey Prater, Columbia, SC; and her best friend, Heather Koth, Summerville, SC; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
Although Tamika will be greatly missed, her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
