Takea Bowman Obituary

Takea Bowman was born November 11, 1990, and from her earliest days was lovingly raised by her adopted mother, Ruth Bowman.  She departed this earthly life on Tuesday, February 24, 2026,   in Columbia, South Carolina.

Takea was educated in the public schools of Richland County and attended Spring Valley High School in Richland School District Two.

She was a devoted member of Northeast Baptist Church in Columbia, where her faith and spirit touched many lives.

Takea was a vibrant, fun-loving young woman whose outgoing personality lit up every room she entered. She had a flair for style and shopping, always knowing exactly what she wanted. More than that, she was a woman of character, warmth, and generosity, always putting the well-being of others before her own. She had an extraordinary gift for laughter, often sharing jokes that brought tears of joy to those around her.

Her passions were many and reflected her joyful spirit. Takea loved dancing, singing, coloring, painting, solving puzzles, and reading, with weekly visits to the library being a cherished ritual. She also found peace and happiness in nature, enjoying trips to New York and Jamacia, and going to the park where she loved to watch the ducks and swinging gently on the swings.

Even while battling her illness, Takea remained gracious, respectful and kind, showing immense strength and dignity to her doctors, nurses, and all who came into contact with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandmother of Charleston, South Carolina.

Takea leaves behind her adopted mother, Ms. Ruth Bowman, who raised her with unwavering love; and Mrs. Daisy Gordon-Millingen, her Certified Caregiver of 15 years, who supported her through life's many ups and downs. She is also survived by a host of other loving family members and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her

Takea Bowman's life was a testament to joy, love, and generosity.  She will be remembered not only for her laughter and energy but for the warmth and kindness she brought into every life she touched.
