Sydnell Valerie Parker Obituary

Sydnell Valerie Parker was born February 19, 1971, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Frances Williams and John Parker. She entered eternal rest in Columbia, SC on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Sydnell attended the public schools in Richland School District One. “Pumpkin” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was truly a  special person whose life was a testament to the power of selfless love and compassion. She found her greatest calling and purpose in nurturing others, a natural caregiver who always put the needs of her children, grandchildren, and everyone around her before her own. Her heart was a sanctuary of warmth and kindness, and the boundless joy she derived from her family was evident in every smile and embrace she shared. The depth of her love created a ripple effect of comfort and support, Ana a beautiful legacy that will continue to touch the lives of those she cherished forever.

Sydnell worked as a caregiver for many years. She held her client Brian Kunkel and his family Cindy and Joan Kunkel dear to her heart. At the time of her earthly departure she was employed with Forest Lake Manor where she was truly loved for her professionalism, warmth, and tireless work ethic that earned her deep respect from colleagues and clients.

In addition to her mother and father, Sydnell was also preceded in death by her sister, LaSonya Williams; and special nephew, Michael Williams.

Sydnell is survived by her loving husband, Alton Roseborough; her four loving children, John Sterling III, Richard Sligh, Brittany (Franklin) Tucker, and Jasmine (Demetrius) Tyler-Bell;  four sisters, Teresa Watts, Regina Parker, Tia Bradford and Angela Bradford-Doctor; eighteen adoring grandchildren whom she loved very much, Aaliyah Hiller, Richard Sligh Jr, Jaylen Hiller, Noelle Sligh, Lianna Sligh, Ethan Sligh, Destiny Sterling, Carmella Jones, Shaina Barbosa, Sidney Sterling, Hazel Davis, Harmonii Tyler-Bell, Harleigh Tyler-Bell, Heavyn Tyler-Bell, Valerie Tyler-Bell, Brielle Smith and Morgan Houston; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who cherished her dearly. Her presence brought laughter, her strength brought comfort, and her faith inspired many.

To know Sydnell was to be reminded of life’s beauty-through her laughter, her stories, her kindness, and her loyalty. Though we mourn her passing,

we rejoice in the knowledge that Sydnell’s soul is at peace.

Her love will live on with us forever.
