Susie Geneva Williams

Susie Geneva Williams was affectionately known as “Mother” to family and friends. She transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on May 10, 2021 at White Oak Manor in Columbia, SC.  Mother Williams was born October 8, 1923 to the late George Jackson and Ida Alston. She attended the public schools of Fairfield County and lived in Baltimore, Md. a long time before relocating to Columbia, SC.  She received her certification as a nursing assistant at Columbia Hospital and spent many years working in the medical profession.

Mother Williams was a long-time member of a Baltimore-based gospel singing group that traveled and performed in various cities on the east coast.  She loved the Lord and was a member of Bible Way Church of Piedmont and later joined Living Word of Deliverance Temple Worship Center. At Living Word, she was an active member of the choir, senior ministry, and the oldest mother at the church.  She loved to cook, talking on the phone, and always had a word of wisdom for anyone who would listen.  She loved having fun with family and friends and always willing to help anyone in need.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories her son, Leroy E. Ross; four nephews, Rev. Alvin Richmond, Mack Arthur Richmond, Herman McQueen, Wayne Robinson; two nieces, Mary Richmond Lumpkin, Doris Dykes, and host of other relatives and friends, all whom will miss her dearly.
