Shirley A. Cornelius

Shirley Ann Cornelius, age 55, was born on September 24, 1965 in Columbia, SC.  She was the daughter of Willie Crosby, Jr and the late Deloris Crosby.  On October 12, 2020 she died of an untimely death. 

Shirley served as a Correctional Officer at the Department of Juvenile Justice for 17 years, and was looking to retire within the next 2 ½ years to focus on her cleaning service business “Heavenly Cleaning Service, LLC”.  She was a woman of faith.  She made time to read her bible daily. 

Shirley loved her family, taking the time to visit her children and grandchildren, regardless of her countless work hours. She was a strong women and a fighter.  She enjoyed helping others.  In spite of what she went through or was going through, she made you feel loved and welcomed.

Shirley was always the life at the party.  There was never a dull moment, especially with her contagious laugh. Being in her presence, you were guaranteed to have a good time.  She loved to shop and would shop till she dropped, but NEVER had anything to wearJ.  In her free time, she loved bingo and scratch-offs J. 

Shirley is survived by her three daughters, Ieashia (Eric Norris) Cornelius, Shreeca Cornelius and Meoshia Coleman; one son, Hakeem Crosby; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; her father and stepmother, Willie and Lillie Crosby, Jr; her brothers, Willie Crosby III, Christopher (Jennifer) Crosby, Leon Crosby and De’Andre Crosby; her sisters, Pamela Cornelius and Latasha (Reginald )Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that will miss Shirley dearly.

Shirley’s mother, Deloris Crosby  and her sister Cynthia Crosby preceded her in death.  They are waiting with arms wide open to escort her through the heavenly gates.
