Mrs. Shirley Johnson of 1136 Congaree Church Rd, Gadsden South Carolina graced the world with her presence on September 6, 1956, to the late Wilhelmena G. Edwards. She departed to her glorious meeting with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 7, 2025. Shirley was educated in the public schools of Richland County. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Shirley affectionately known to her family and friends as "Fat" will always be remembered for her beautiful spirit, consistent acts of kindness and tireless expressions of love for her family. FAT loved to cook and was famous for her macaroni and cheese, baking cakes, playing bingo, but mostly of all, she loved going to church.
Shirley also has and could always called, this special down to earth loving, kind and sweet heart any time, day or night and she's there, Mrs GAIL HIGGINS has always been her backbone bestie all the way till the end and to carry that love on, We the kids of Shirley Ann Johnson will always keep you as our bonus auntie and love you forever.
Now on to her loved special cousin's and niece Sharon Williams, Deloris Smith and Sheila Williams if there's one thing l've learned over the years, it's that you never gave up on being there, the bond that links this family with the respect and you in each other's life.
In addition, to her mother, Shirley was proceeded in death by her first husband Jasper Goodwin Sr, oldest son Jasper Goodwin Jr, grandmother, Viola 0. Gunter, stepfather Arthur Edwards, great granddaughter Mila Walker and other special family and friends.
Shirley leaves behind to cherish her memories: her husband Wilson Johnson Sr., her son Tobias Goodwin Sr. of Gadsden, South Carolina; two daughters, Desonya (Tyrone) Simons of Hopkins, South Carolina, Elaine (Bernard) Benjamin of Columbia, South Carolina, and Stepson Wilson (Doloris) Johnson Jr.; three brothers, Steven Edwards, Arthur Terrell and Phillip Terrell, all of Eastover, South Carolina
Fifteen grandchildren; Tyneisha Simons, Kevin Benjamin, Eric Simons, Jasslyn Benjamin, Bernard Simons, Tre’Varus Goodwin, Tobias Goodwin Jr., Aiyanna Richardson, Tranard Benjamin, Zyriah Simons, Tionna Goodwin, Ta’Bari Goodwin, Amir Young, Ty’lessa Johnson & Malachia Johnson; Seven great grand childern Erica Simons, Juelz Martin, Londyn Johnson, Malayah Robertson, Azai Simons, Raelynn Augustin and Kyaire Jones; One bonus grandchild, Kyra Armstrong. One loving Godson Renaldo Suber and a host of aunt, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends all who will mourn her passing.
