Sherry Denise Pollard was born February 10, 1967, in East Chicago, Indiana, the beloved daughter of the late Nettie Hicks and Arthur Hall, Sr. She was welcomed into the gates of Heaven on Monday, March 23, 2026, while surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 59.
“Woogie,” as she was affectionately called by family and friends was a graduate of East Chicago High School in 1986. She proudly joined the military serving in the United States Army from which she retired in 2017 receiving an Honorable Discharge after32 years of dedicated service. After retirement she went on to become a daycare teacher leaving a lasting impression on every child she nurtured.
Sherry was a devoted Christian and made Jesus the center of her life as she was a member of God’s Way of Faith. Deeply involved in mission work and volunteering for the community, Sherry’s unwavering faith, quiet strength, and profound wisdom mirrored the teachings of God’s love. For those who knew Sherry, they knew she was all for a good time and cherished those around her. She enjoyed dancing, attending gospel concerts, and spending quality time with her family. She adored being a loving and doting wife but basked in pure joy as a mom and “GiGi” to her children and grandchildren.
A faithful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend, Sherry’s spirit was rooted in grace and compassion. Sherry was devoted to her family and friends. She cherished her relationships and was a source of strength and unwavering support to those who needed her. She had a divine way of showing up on time and her presence brought peace. Whether it was her infectious laughter, her caring nature, or her ability to turn any moment into a cherished memory, she was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kevin Pollard, Sr.; step-father, Leroy Hicks Sr.; mother-in-law, Daisy Pollard; father-in-law, Arthur Pollard Sr.; sister, Latoya Hicks; brothers, Arthur Hall Jr., Curtis Hall, Ronald Hall, and Bernard Hall; sisters-in-law, Barbara Pollard and Kimberly Pollard; brothers-in-law, Michael Pollard and Keith Pollard.
Sherry’s memories will always be cherished by her loving children, Sherrakin Pollard, Keveyonia (Shykim) Singleton and Kevin Pollard II; her grandchildren, Samir, Elias, and Nora Singleton and Kian and Micah Pollard; her sisters, Debra Hall, Brenda Hall, and LaMesa Hicks (Christopher) Brooks; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Pollard Mills, Debra Pollard, Diane Blalock, LaTaunya Pollard, and LaShawn Pollard Austin; brothers-in-law, Charlie Pollard Sr., Mac Arthur (Kim) Pollard and Arthur Pollard Jr.; her treasured nieces and nephews; and many other loving relatives and dear friends she considered family.
Sherry’s legacy will live on through every life she has touched, and her infectious smile, and words of wisdom will be missed dearly.
