Sheldon Nathaniel Tillett, Jr. Obituary

Sheldon Nathanial Tillett Jr affectionally known as “TJ” was born in New York Hospital, in Manhattan, New York on October 21, 1987. His family moved to Columbia SC with his parents and his older sister at the age of 18 months. The joke was always “you a southerner,” which he was very proud.  TJ departed this life to be with the Lord on January 5, 2020.

TJ attended Lexington/Richland District 5 schools and was a proud graduate of Dutch Fork High School in 2005.  TJ completed Central Piedmont Community College and was continuing his education in political science as he always wanted to be involved in politics where he could make a difference in this community, but due to his health he had to slow down the dream with hopes of getting his degree in the future.  TJ was a go getter even when his health would get the best of him, the family would say “you’re like that everlasting battery you just keep on going and going”.  TJ loved life and you never heard him complaining about his situation which begin when he was 21 years old.  TJ dealt with life on life’s terms and kept his faith in God always.  TJ had one daughter who was his miracle child, and he cherished every beat of her heart.  Corinne was the love of TJ’s life.  He always talked about her and they took thousands of pictures together. If you knew him, you definitely knew about his baby girl. He loved to buy her the latest edition of Jordan’s, and like TJ, he kept her fly.  TJ never met a stranger and if you knew him, you’ll never forget him because I’m sure he left an everlasting impression on you.

His personality exuded his witty behavior having the ability to make you laugh until your stomach hurt. TJ was the son, brother, and friend you could always count on.  He was charming, hardworking and smart. TJ’s alter ego “Nino” came out often jokingly as he stayed “fresh” at all times.  He was always camera ready and fashion forward from head to toe!  He was a family jewel that will forever be missed.

TJ leaves to mourn his daughter, Corinne; parents Sheldon, Sr. & Cheryl; sister, Shaneekqua; niece, Brianna; brother Shon; grandfather, Joe Louis; aunt &uncle Tyrone & Michelle; brother/cousin, Kareem; uncles, Kevin (Michelle) and Frank and a host of cousins and friends.
