Sharon Irving Obituary

On this day, May 31, 2020, we celebrate the life of Ms. Sharon Lorraine Irving. Sharon was born on September 5, 1948, in Harlem Hospital in New York, New York to the late Robert Eugene Irving and the late Jennie Vanessa Irving.

While growing up in Harlem, New York, Sharon attended and graduated from Walton High School in the Bronx in 1966. She attended the College of Human Services in New York where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work. Sharon worked for Bronx Developmental Services in several professional capacities for over 20 years and retired as the Director of Program Management. She then moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she went on to receive her Master of Social Work degree at Clark Atlanta University. She began working for the Dekalb County Department of Family and Children Services where she retired from the State of Georgia after 15 years of service.

After retirement, Sharon spent her time traveling and doing her favorite thing to do; helping to raise her granddaughter Aaliyah. Sharon loved Jesus Christ and touched everyone she encountered. Sharon never met a stranger and had a way with sharing her love with everyone. Affectionately known as "Angel" by many and rightfully so.

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Alissa Paige Irving; granddaughter, Aaliyah A. Lorraine Irving-Jones; niece, Lisa Best; cousins, Margaret Wade, Darryl, and Ronald Stackhouse, godson, William Knox; and a host of extended family and close friends.
