Samuel G. Geiger

Samuel George Geiger was born August 10, 1945, in Irmo, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Silas and Katie Jones Geiger.  He departed this earthly life on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

Affectionately called Sam by family and friends, he was educated in the public schools of Lexington County, where he graduated from the historical African American Richlex School (now Dutch Fork Elementary School), in Lexington County.

After graduating, Samuel enlisted in the United States Air Force serving for several years. Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge, he became employed with Allied Chemical from which he retired after many years of dedicated service.

Sam was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved being in the open air. Though he is no longer physically with us, he has left a legacy of love to all those who loved and knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Henry L. Geiger.

Those who are forever cherishing fond and precious memories of Samuel are his loving and devoted wife of forty-five (45), Rosa L. McMillian Geiger; four caring sisters-in-law, Sarah Gamble of New York, Frances L. (Odell) Rice and Dianne M. Carter and Barbara Delaney, all of Columbia, SC; three brothers-in-law, Ernest (Liz) McMillian, Min. Calvin (Sharon) McMillian and Karl McMillian, all of Columbia, SC; and a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
