Sammie L. Boneparte, Sr. Obituary

Sammie Lewis Boneparte, Sr. affectionately known as “Sugar Lump,” was born July 31, 1959, in Lone Star, SC, the beloved son of the late George Sr. and Ruebelle Robinson Boneparte. On Friday, May 30, 2025, at his residence in Columbia, SC, Sammie Lewis peacefully transitioned from this life to be with the Lord.

Sammie was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County where he attended St. John High School in Cameron, SC, and graduated from Elloree High School in Elloree, SC.

On January 15, 1981, Sammie was united in holy matrimony to the former, Barbara Dukes, whom he loved dearly; and to their union a son, Sammie Jr., was born.

During his career, Sammie held various positions including with Congaree Construction, Precision Wall, Hester Dry Wall, and Collins and Wright from which he retired after many years of dedicated service. After retiring, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family, especially his devoted wife, Barbara.

Sammie attended Full Gospel Word Church faithfully, where he enjoyed the word of God until his health declined.

Those who are cherishing fond and precious memoires of Sammie are his loving and devoted wife, Barbara Boneparte of the home; sons, Tyrone Young, Marvin Pickney and Sammie Boneparte Jr., all of Columbia, SC; six adoring grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his granddaughter and “Special Nurse” Samia “Tootie” who would always ask him “Pop are you alright?”; loving siblings, Irene Robins, Gertie (Arthur) Irving, William Boneparte, and James Earl Boneparte, all of Columbia, SC; Helen (Cleo) Aiken of Elloree, SC; and Tiffany (Thaddieus) Duley of Orangeburg, SC; caring in-laws, Tyronald Dukes, Eugene (Natalie) Dukes of Chattahoochee, FL, Eric (Linda)  Dukes, Dwight Dukes, both of Tallahassee, FL, and Linda Bryant of Tampa, FL; uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
