Sammie, affectionately known as "POP" by family and friends, was educated in the Public Schools of Richland School District One. He graduated from Eau Claire High School and had a long career as a brick mason.
In addition to his father, Sammie was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elijah Hatten, Jr., and Leola Hatten; maternal grandparents, Johnny Burke and Corine Burke.
Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Pop are his two loving daughters, Valencia Kennedy and Victoria Glover; precious grandson, Kashton Glover; his loving mother, Willie Mae Hatten; caring sister, Christy (Roosevelt) Doctor; devoted brothers, Edward Hatten and Thomas Hayes; nephews, nieces, one uncle, a host of aunts, cousins, and other loving relatives and dear friends.
Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving spirit will forever live in the hearts who all loved him.
