Deacon Sammie Lee Green attended the public schools of Richland County and was a 1970 graduate of Webber High School in Eastover, South Carolina. He was a dedicated employee of Owen Steel for over 50 years before retiring.
Deacon Sammie Lee Green was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was also known for his faithfulness, dedication, hardworking and providing attributes for his family, friends and anyone who was in need. He was a dedicated and faithful member of Prayer and Bible Study Church where he served as a Trustee, a member of the Deacon Board, Usher Board, Missionary Society, and Choir.
Deacon Sammie Lee Green was well known for his famous well-loved punch that everyone loved.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Clarisa A. Green; brother, Joe Louis Green, Sr.; sister, Willie Mae Johnson.
Deacon Sammie Lee Green leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving wife of 51 years, Ivy Lee Green; four daughters, Lisa Green Melton, Luci Michelle Green, Mary Jane Green, and Soinetta Denise Green, all of Columbia, South Carolina; five sisters; Rosa Lee Scott, Lillian Green, Ethel Mae Wise, Ida Mae (John) Tucker, all of Gadsen, South Carolina, and Mary (Joe) Bush of Long Island, New York; two brothers, David Green of Gadsden, South Carolina, James Green of Kershaw, South Carolina; brother-in-law, John Earl Johnson of Eastover, South Carolina; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
