Samantha Renee Yolanda Alston was born August 30, 1989, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of Sandra Trapp and Willie Alston. She departed this earthly life on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at MUSC Heath Columbia Medical Center Downtown in Columbia, South Carolina.
Samantha was educated in the Public Schools of Richland County. Muffin as she was affectionately called by family and friends, worked in the Fast-Food Industry until her health declined however, she will always be remembered for her warm personality.
Samantha fought with courage, strength, and grace, facing whatever challenges came her way. She will be remembered for doing things the “Muffin Way,” and she took life day by day.
Though she is no longer physically with us, she has left a legacy of love, and a sense of endurance for life that will live in the hearts and lives of everyone who loved and knew her.
Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories of Samatha are her loving son, Symir Alston; and daughter, Star Zaniyah Lawson, both of Columbia, South Carolina; mother, Sandra Trapp; father, Willie Alston, both of Columbia, South Carolina; brothers, Christopher (Ka`Sandra) Alston of Lugoff, SC; and Ernest Alston of Salisbury, North Carolina; sisters, Kimmie Alston and Brittany Alston, both of Columbia, South Carolina; a host of nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her, but rejoice that she is now resting free from pain.
