Sally L. Amos, 78 departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on Friday, October 15, 2021 in Sumter, SC. Sally was born June 3, 1943 in Britton, SC to the late Lawrence Lemon and Gussie Lemon.
Sally was educated in Sumter County Public Schools and was a graduate of Eastern High School in 1962. Sally was employed at U.S Textiles as a material handler for many years where she retired from Sumter Laundry & Cleaners.
She was a devoted and faithful member of St. Matthew’s Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter where she served faithfully as an usher, gospel choir member, trustee board, secretary and treasurer of the senior usher board, president of the Pastor’s Aide, missionary department and a member of the kitchen committee.
On February 2, 1964, she was married to her high school sweetheart, Bernie Amos and to this union, they were blessed with two boys and a girl, Eric, Derrick and Michelle.
Sally was a loving mother, grandmother and woman of God. She will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren family and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Alonzo Lemmon.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband for over 57 years. Mr. Bernice Amos; her sons, Eric B. (Jerlean) Amos and Bernie D. (Shauna Ray) Amos of Sumter, SC; daughter, Michelle Amos of Sumter, SC; sister-in law, Shirley Williams of Sumter, SC; grandchildren, Dequan Amos, Dominique Rock, Kanoshia D. Rock, Kaniesha D. Rock, Deandrea, Tikea, Hope, Destiny and Trinity; great-grandchildren, Braelen, De’Sean, Kali, Bailey, Chynna and De’lilah; her godson, Julius Adger; a special friend, Wenona Robinson (Winnie) who helped with taking care of Mrs. Sally during her extended illness; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives who will deeply miss her.
