Sadie B. Durant Obituary

Sadie Bell Brinson Durant, was born June 6, 1961, the beloved daughter of the late Richard and Mattie Hicks Brinson in Troy, New York.  She answered the call of the Lord at the age of 62, in the comfort of her home on Monday, November 13, 2023.

Sadie graduate in the class of 1980 from Westside High School class in Augusta, Georgia. She continued her education at Augusta Technical College, graduating in the class of 1985 with an associate degree in nursing.  Sadie was currently employed as third shift Store Manager of Walmart Supercenter store number #1382 in Greenwood, where she had been employed for 32 years.

Sadie was united in Holy Matrimony to Roosevelt Durant , Jr. with whom she shared many years of love and devotion and a family filled with love.  Sadie was devoted most of her life to her family, especially to her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Mrs. Durant was a resident of McCormick County for over 20 years and a faithful member of The Open Door Holiness Church in Greenwood, SC,  where the late Elder Andrew Thomas was her pastor.

She was “NE-NE” to her beloved grandchildren, “MISS SADIE” to her co-workers and friends but most of all, she was a PHENOMENAL, EXTRAORDINARY, AMAZING wife and mother. There was nothing in this world that she would not do for, or give to anyone because she had a heart of pure gold. She was always there whenever you needed a friend, a mother-figure, a sister, a prayer partner, a front seat rider, a lunch date, a confidant and SO MUCH MORE. Sadie is, was, and will always be a Proverbs 31 “Virtuous Woman”. She stood firm on God’s word no matter what and would always encourage others to keep the faith as well. Her rule of thumb was a simple statement- “JUST STAND!”.

In addition to her parents, Sadie was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Alexis Durant; sister, Catherine Bodrick;  brothers, Allen Brinson Jr. and Randolph Brinson; aunt, Mozelle Stokes; and her father and mother-in-law,  Roosevelt, Sr. and Ella Mae Durant Sr.

She leaves to cherish her sweet memories her loving husband, Mr. Roosevelt Durant Jr.; two loving sons, Justin (Donquita) Durant and Joshua (Shalina) Durant; eleven adoring grandchildren, Josiah Durant, Jessica Durant, Janora Durant, Journey Durant, Jada Durant, Isaac Clark, Jena Durant, Jada Goode, Ricky McDowell, Cornelius McDowell, and RJ Few;  god-daughters, Dana Smith and Jakayla Goodman; godson, Kiyrome Durant; loving sisters, Aileen Anderson and Mary Everett; caring in-laws, Evonne (Donald) Butler, Gary Durrant, Tawanda (Bishop Johnathan) Green, and Ebony (Shahid) Harvey, four devoted best friends, Hope Thomas, Angel Key, Jennifer Wright, and Tawanda (Jonathan) Green; along with a host of nieces, nephews, god-children, adopted children, other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family  in sharing the grief cause by her departure.
