SPC Christofer Allarick Wheeler, was born June 27, 2002, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of Crystal Clay. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 8, 2022, in Tacoma, Washington.
Christofer attended the public schools of Richland County graduating from Ridgeview High School in 2019. He was a member of chorus and competed in track, basketball, football and wrestling.
Christofer was a proud soldier in the United States Army. He enlisted in the Army on June 26, 2020, as a Culinary Specialist and attended basic training two months later. He attended Airborne School in May 2021, and qualified on the T-11 parachute and earned the title of “Paratrooper”. SPC Wheeler was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord Army base in Tacoma, Washington. He worked at the Award-Winning Army Dining Facility, 1st Warrior Restaurant, providing well-balanced and nutritional meals to Special Forces Soldiers. Since enlisting he has been awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Parachutist Badge.
SPC Wheeler was a member of Holy Light Tabernacle Church. He was also a volunteer at Christ Central Ministries. He had a way of always making people laugh. His smile was infectious, and his wit was unmatched; he will be missed.
Christofer was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lloyd Clay, Jr.
Those who will forever cherish Christofer’s fond and precious memories are is his loving and devoted mother, Crystal Clay; his sister, Marketta Guitroz; his grandmother Sylvia Mickens; his uncle, Allarick Clay; and his aunts, Alita Butler and Shakira Clay; and a host of other uncles, aunts, cousins, others loving relatives and dear friends all of whom will miss Christofer dearly.
