Ruth Rebecca Brown was born June 23, 1926 to the late George Richard and Mary Elizabeth Carroll in Clarksburg, Maryland. Four brothers, Earl, Elmer, George and Leroy Carroll, one sister, Louise Stewart, precede her.
Ruth was the Matriarch of five generations who departed this life on February 16, 2018, at the age of ninety-one in Columbia, South Carolina.
Ruth graduated from Lincoln High School in Rockville, Maryland. She then moved to Washington, DC were she was head of housekeeping at the Kennedy Center. Upon leaving the Kennedy Center she became a private housekeeper to the late Commander Everett A. and Margaret Rebok Parke. Margaret and Ruth were not only employer/employee they were lifelong friends. Before moving to South Carolina she attended St. Matthews Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board, and as a missionary. After retiring, Ruth became active in her community (i.e. cancer research board, share program, and voting).
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted daughter, Theresa V. Brown and son Donald W. Moore Sr. (Robin Moore).
She also leaves ten grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
