Rufus Carmichael, Jr was born September 15, 1972 in Elizabeth, NJ. He was the son of Rufus and Mary Carmichael, Sr. He departed this life on March 13, 2021.
At the age of 18, Rufus enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Desert Strom War. A year later, he left the military and eventually became a diesel mechanic. He later traveled with his father on the road for several years and had aspirations of a becoming a truck driver.
He was recently working towards a business idea, providing home repair services. He worked while raising and caring for his six-year-old son, who lived in the home with him.
Rufus Carmichael, Jr was smart, dependable and full of courage. He will forever be missed by his family and all of those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Carmichael; sister, Theresa Carmichael; his wife, Betty Carmichael and his daughter, Mary “Kiona” Carmichael.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his father, Rufus Carmichael, Sr; his sons, Rashaun and Rayvon Carmichael; siblings, Emma, Dorothea and Charles “Jason” Carmichael; beloved nephew, Jermaine Carmichael and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends whom will miss him dearly.
