Roscoe Buford Short, Jr., was born March 7, 1946, in Columbia, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Roscoe, Sr., and Mamie Rivers Short. He departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Roscoe served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1967. After his departure from the military, he was employed with the Southern Bell Company from which he retired in 1990. He was then employed with Midlands Technical College and the BWI.
Roscoe was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother uncle and friend.
Mr. Short was also preceded in death by a brother, Tyrone Short; a sister, Brenda Short; and a brother-in-law, Johnny Cash.
Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories are Roscoe are his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Berthina Richardson Short of the home; his loving children, Carlton (Shakira) Short, Kimberly Short, both of Columbia, SC; Brandon Short of Darlington, SC; and Willie Taylor of Baltimore, MD; siblings, Lula Mae Cash of Arizona; Thomas Short of Columbia, TN; Sheila (Gary) Count of Nashville, TN; David (Catrena) Short of Florida; Robert (Helen) Short, Brenda (Larry) Turner, Micheal Douglas, and Linda Short; grandchildren, Ziaqueria (Kayden) Crowder, Zinere, Kimbria, Johnathan, Branson, Kendell, Jimira, Jimi, Kaitlyn, Zakie, Amir
and LaMandelyn; one great-grandson, Kristian Crowder; a host of cousins, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by his departure but rejoice that he is resting with the Lord.
