Rosa Holman Lucas was born August 1, 1932, in St. Matthews, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late David Holman and Harriet Jefferson. She was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 17, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Rosa was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County, South Carolina. She was employed as a domestic engineer for more than 25 years.
Mother Rosa loved the Lord with all her heart, and she shared the gospel with all she knew and some she did not know. She was a dedicated member of the Little Rock Evangelistic Church of Cayce, South Carolina, where she served faithfully until her health declined. She was also the beloved Mother of Little Rock.
Though she is no longer physical with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew her.
Mother Lucas was also preceded in death by her son, Paul A. Dortch, Jr.; her brother, Alphone Holman; and her sister, Evangelist Ella Howell.
Those who will forever cherish Mother Rosa’s fond and precious memories are her devoted son, Barry Lucas; and her loving and devoted daughter, Rose Mary Dortch, both of Columbia, South Carolina; her grandsons, Joshua and Justin Lucas; and her granddaughters, Porsche Dortch, Pauline Dortch, and Chanel Dortch, all of Columbia, South Carolina; nephew, Michael Howell Alcott, Jr.; nieces, Stella Green of Kansas City, Kansas; Loretta Howell of North Carolina; Mary Howell, Venue Robinson, Janetta Faust and Janice (Greg) Howard, all of Columbia, South Carolina; a host of great great-grandchildren; and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief cause by her departure, but rejoice that she is now resting with the Lord.
