Ronald Moyd Darby was born July 9, 1945, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Ernest Wright and Louise Pickens. He passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2025 at his residence in Columbia, South Carolina.
Ronald was educated in the public schools of Richland County where he attended Booker T. Washington High School and built lifelong friendships and memories.
Ronald worked for many years as a dedicated janitorial worker. He took pride in his work, always showing diligence and commitment, and was admired by colleagues for his reliability and kindness.
Those who knew Ronald will remember his warm smile, sense of humor, and gentle spirit. He touched many lives in simple but meaningful ways, leaving a legacy of hard work, humility, and care for others.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was also preceded in death by his wife, Bobbi Jenkins; siblings, Annie Mae Pickens, Pamela Pickens, Rosa Pickens and Calvin (Conny) Priester, and niece, LaTasha Pickens.
He is survived by three loving children, Rosalyn Darby, Reginald Darby and Teresa Darby, all of Columbia, SC; nephews, Angelo (Talecia) Canty and Emmett (Monique) Pickens; niece, Denita (Jay Etheridge) Pickens of New York; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
Moyd will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
