Robert H. Gray

Robert Henry Gray was born April 4, 1953, in Swansea, South Carolina, the son of the late Robert Gray and Eartha Whetstone. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at PRISMA Health Richland Hospital, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Robert was educated in the public schools of Lexington County where he attended Monroe Pickney High School in Swansea, South Carolina.  He was employed with Space Roofing for many years.

Mr. Gray attended Haskell Heights First Baptist Church.

 “Captain” as he was affectionately called by family and friends,  enjoyed fishing, cooking, playing cards, shooting pool, playing games on his cell phone, and hanging out with his children and grandchildren.

Though he is no longer physically with us, he has left a legacy of love to all those who loved and knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Debora Gray; brothers, Sam Gray, David Whetstone, Billy Whetstone, Alexandrea Gray, and CL Jeffery; sisters, Ethel Davenport Martha Thomas, Elaine Youmans, Mary Bruce and Julia Inabinet.

Robert Leaves to cherish precious memoires to his eight children, Jeanell Gaines, Letitia Johnson, Robin Gray, Henry Gray, Robert Mivins, Aurielle (Dravion) Strong, Lisa Keitt, and Christopher Keitt, all of Columbia, SC; granddaughter, Penelope Strong; grandchildren reared in the home, William Corley, Jr. and Melquana Singletary; aunt, Genova Gray; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom loved him dearly and will truly miss him.
