Robert Smith, Jr.

Robert Smith Jr., was born on April 24, 1962, to the union of Robert and Amy Smith in Columbia, SC.

Robert professed his faith in Jesus Christ as a young adult at New Life Freedom Christian Church in Columbia, SC where he was a dedicated member. At New Life, Robert faithfully served many roles, including Usher Board and as a Deacon.

Robert received his formal education in the public schools in Richland County. He later obtained certifications and licensures for his professional career as an electrician. Robert’s skills enabled him to work over 40 years locally and abroad.

Robert was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved his children deeply and was incredibly proud of his grandchildren.

He enjoyed gathering with family and celebrating achievements, birthdays, and holidays. Robert was passionate about college and pro football; rallying both for SC Gamecocks and Dallas Cowboys. He loved to cook holiday meals for his family. Fishing, bowling, and playing cards were his favorite hobbies. Robert was all around passionate about life.

Robert Smith departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, September 5, 2020. He was proceeded in death by his father, Robert Smith and mother, Amy Smith.

To the union of Robert and Sherry were born eight children.

His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Terrance Smith, Tiffney (Alphonso) Smith, Rashell (Joshua) Black, Lyn (Christopher) Smith, Ebony Smith, Brianna Smith, Brandon (Paris) Smith, Dashay Smith; 12 grandchildren; brother, Darryl (Julie) Smith of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Dorothy Dash of SC; sister, Betty Sherman of SC; sister, Bertha Smith of SC; sister Amy Alston of San Antonio, Texas; host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Robert Smith Jr. will be deeply missed, remembered and loved by family and friends.
