Robert Lee Avery, affectionately known as “Rob,” was born on August 9, 1947, in Monroe, Georgia, the beloved son of the late Reverend Castell Avery Sr. and Jewell Jackson Avery. He peacefully departed this life on November 9, 2025, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, faith, and service.
He received his early education at Social Circle Elementary School and Carver High School in the Walton County School System. On August 12, 1968, Rob was united in holy matrimony to his beloved wife, the former Ola Mae Bradley. Together, they shared over five decades of love, partnership, and commitment, and to their union, three children were born.
Rob proudly served his country in the United States Army, dedicating 20 years of honorable service before retiring in 1987. During his military career, he served bravely in the Vietnam War, exemplifying courage, loyalty, and devotion to duty. His service reflected his strong sense of discipline, leadership, and integrity—qualities that carried through every chapter of his life.
A lifelong learner, Rob pursued education with great determination. He earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Central Texas College in 1986, obtained his Heavy Truck Driver’s License from Blanton’s Junior College in 1988, and graduated from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Academy in 1992. His love of learning and self-improvement inspired all who knew him.
Known for being financially savvy and possessing a sharp head for business, Rob approached life with wisdom, purpose, and practicality. He believed in hard work, lifelong growth, and providing for those he loved.
In addition to his parents, Rob was preceded in death by his sisters, Patsy Avery Meadows, Kathy Avery Yarbrough; and brothers, Charles Avery and Nesby Avery.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Ola Mae Avery; three children, Rodney L. (Kim) Avery, Reginald L. (Nicole) Avery , and Crystal Avery Bradley; cherished grandchildren, Deja, Rodney Jr., Jordan, Kaidyn, Samuel, and Jaxen; brother, Castell (Yolanda) Avery Jr.; and sister, Laura Kelly; and a host of other loving family members and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Rob’s life was a reflection of faith, perseverance, and love. Though he has gone on to his eternal rest, the lessons he taught and the love he shared will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him
