Rickey Eugene Brown, Sr.

Rickey Brown, Sr. was born February 7, 1956, in Fayetteville, NC.  He was the youngest son of five children born to John Wesley Brown and Gardenia (Percy) Jones. He went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with heart disease on Friday, July 29, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. 

To know Rickey was to love him. He lived life to the fullest; and when he faced adversity, you’d hear him say, “Everything is gonna be all right” or “Don’t worry bout nothing cuz it ain’t worried bout you”. Rickey graduated from the Cumberland County School System and went on to complete a few years of college before entering the Police Academy. After his career as a Police Officer, he obtained his Commercial Driver’s License. Rickey had a long and successful career as an on the road truck driver. Rickey was most happy when he was spending time with his siblings, children, and any of his friends and family.

Rickey was preceded in death by his son, Rickey Eugene Brown, Jr; and his biological Father, John Wesley Brown.

Those who will forever cherish Rickey’s fond and precious memories are his loving wife Lila, of the home; his loving  children, Tee (Leah) Sampson of Raleigh, NC; Kimberly Brown-Dwyer of Atlanta, GA; Tomekia (Valentine) Ndubisi of Jonesboro, GA; Kenja ( Harriett) Dandridge of Savannah, GA;  grandchildren, Lauren, Gabriel, Joi, Hope, Kaige; his loving and caring parents, Gardenia (Percy) Jones of Burtonsville, MD; his brothers,  Louis Hargrove,  George Hargrove and  Wesley (Joyce) Brown, all of Columbia, SC; sisters, Deborah Singletary of Atlanta, GA; and Theresa (Dwayne) Parris of Burtonsville, MD; his life is also celebrated by a host of nephews, nieces, extended family, and other loving relatives and dear friends.
